• Yearly tuition for four quarters of 10 lessons each is $600.00.  Tuition must be paid in advance of lessons in either quarterly installments of $150.00, due at the beginning of the quarter, or monthly installments of $50.00 due at the beginning of each month. No refunds will be given. If tuition is not paid by the beginning of the next quarter or month and no arrangements have been made, the student will not be allowed to take lessons until tuition is paid in full and the lesson time may be forfeited to a student on the waiting list. Missed lessons may be made up if there is an opening in the schedule. Tuition must be paid whether or not the lessons are taken, as my time is contracted to each individual student. Tuition pays not only for the actual lesson time but also for time spent:

*Planning lessons, researching latest teaching methods
*Discovering and learning new music
*Ordering and stocking sheet music/instruments
*Planning and attending recitals and other events

Studio costs of:
*Maintaining a comfortable, well-equipped studio, including a properly
tuned piano
*Purchasing books, CDs, software and other supplementary materials
used during lessons
*Making photocopies and maintaining a copy machine
*Maintaining an inventory of student materials
*Purchasing awards and stickers

  • Students must provide their own instrument. Piano students should have a well-tuned acoustic piano, digital piano or touch-sensitive keyboard with a minimum of 61 keys. Guitar students should have a quality instrument that is the correct size for the student.  Keyboards, guitars, and accessories may be ordered through the studio. Students need a decent instrument to learn on; an out-of-tune piano with broken keys or guitars that are the wrong size or not set up properly will hinder the student’s progress.
  • Students are responsible for purchasing their own books/music and instruments.  In addition, guitar students must have an electronic tuner and a music stand. All materials may be purchased through the studio. Account balances for materials and/or fees should be included with the following month’s tuition.
  • Students are expected to be on time for lessons. If you are late, you may miss that part of your lesson in order that the studio may run on schedule. If the studio is running behind schedule, none of your lesson time will be lost.
  • Students are expected to be at scheduled lessons. Even if a student has not practiced since the previous lesson, alternative activities, such as ear training, sight-reading and theory work, can be pursued.
  • Students are expected to practice on a daily basis and to complete their written assignments in order to progress. The amount of time spent practicing should be marked in their assignment book.
  • If students are not progressing satisfactorily, they may be dismissed from the studio.
  • Students may go through difficult periods during the course of music instruction, and frustration is a common factor in a student’s development while struggling to learn new concepts and develop musical skills. Parents are encouraged to call with questions or concerns regarding any problems the student may have.
  • If the parent or student chooses to discontinue lessons, a two-week notification is expected. If a student does not attend lessons for two weeks consecutively with no phone call or e-mail regarding the absence, it will be assumed that lessons have been discontinued and the lesson time will be given to a student on the waiting list. If the student wishes to continue s/he will have to re-enroll in the next available time slot.
